This 1987 BMW M3 is a European-market example that was sold new in Switzerland and was imported to the US following the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2022. The car is powered by a 2.3-liter S14 inline-four mated to a dog-leg five-speed manual transmission and is finished in white over gray cloth upholstery. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, basketweave 15″ wheels, an electric sunroof, integrated driving lights, an onboard computer, and a BMW Bavaria AM/FM cassette player. Work performed in March 2022 is said to have included replacing the tires, performing an engine compression test, and changing the oil. This Euro E30 M3 shows 179k kilometers (~111k miles) and is offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a tool kit, manufacturer’s literature, partial service records, a Car-Pass report, import paperwork, and a clean Georgia title.
The car was finished from the factory in Alpine White (146) and features M3-specific exterior details that include aerodynamic front and rear bumper covers, side skirts, a rear spoiler, and a decklid, rear glass, and C-pillars that were revised from the standard 3-series models. Additional equipment includes an electric sunroof, headlight washers and wipers, integrated driving lights, a roof-mounted antenna, body-color side mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets. Exterior wear is noted and includes paint chips and abrasion along the lower front bumper cover.
Silver-finished 15″ basketweave alloy wheels are mounted with 205/55 Yokohama Advan Fleva tires that are said to have been replaced in March 2022. The E30 M3 was equipped with a thicker rear anti-roll bar and stiffer springs than the standard 3-series, and braking is handled by four-wheel anti-lock discs.
The interior features front sport seats and bolstered rear seating trimmed in gray cloth with houndstooth inserts and matching door panels. Appointments include gray carpets, electric windows, headlight leveling control, an onboard computer, a cassette tape magazine, and a BMW Bavaria AM/FM cassette player.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a 260-km/h speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges measuring oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer indicates 179k kilometers (~111k miles), less than 1k of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 2.3-liter S14 inline-four features dual overhead camshafts and individual throttle bodies, and it was factory rated at 197 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The oil was reportedly changed in March 2022, and compression test results are shown in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a dog-leg five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Documentation accompanying the car includes manufacturer’s literature, partial service records, a Car-Pass report, and import paperwork.
