It has become a mainstay in the car enthusiast community, with broad reach in both the younger market and with more established and seasoned collectors. 1. Auction Specialist (Full-time / Remote)

We’re seeing more cars submitted to BaT than ever before. As a result, we’re looking to bring on Auction Specialists to draft listings and provide the best possible service to our sellers. This is a full-time position that can be done remotely. 

Are you someone who writes well, has fantastic people skills, with an interest in classic cars? Your job will be to help sellers move from a completed submission for a collector car to a successful auction experience. Top candidates will have a history in technical writing or journalism fields with a heavy editorial background.

Responsibilities:

  • Write a thorough and objective auction listing based on information provided by the seller.
  • Arrange photos and text in listing template and photo gallery, with an eye for compelling visual content.
  • Submit drafts to the editing team for technical and style review.
  • Respond to all seller inquiries in a timely manner with appropriate action.
  • Monitor every assigned listing and comments during the live auction period.

Required traits:

  • Excellent writing skills: The ability to write listings for clarity, grammar, and accuracy.
  • Attention to detail: A capacity for catching mistakes as well as receiving feedback and using it to improve your work.
  • Comfort with technology: Familiarity with WordPress and G Suite.
  • Practiced interpersonal skills: Capable of interacting with the BaT team and clients in a professional and positive way.
  • Solutions-oriented: Approach problem-solving with empathy and patience.
  • Domain knowledge: Interest in the kind of vehicles we feature on BaT each day a plus!

2. Software Engineer (Full-time / Remote)

This Software Engineer position is with our parent company, Hearst Autos. Responsibilities:

  • Build our next-generation auction marketplace and supporting services to power the new Bring a Trailer, as well as other future auction and classified marketplaces for Hearst Autos and Hearst Magazines brands.
  • Work on car shopping, research, and discussions features for Car and Driver, Road & Track, and our other brands across the unique suite of Media Platforms tools and services.
  • Participate in product and software design discussions, working directly with other engineers, product and design teams, DevOps, and other stakeholders.
  • Use well-reasoned, appropriate design patterns and best practices.

Required traits:

  • You take initiative to constantly improve individually and as a part of a team.
  • You have 2+ years of experience building web applications and services.
  • You have the ability to take a feature to full completion – from inception through design, implementation, delivery, and post-release in an iterative agile environment.
  • You have experience with server-side programming in Node.js, Python, Java, Go, or other similar languages. You’re not tied to a specific language or technology and you’re able to quickly adapt and learn new skills.
  • You write tests to improve the quality, modularity, and maintainability of your code.
  • You have an understanding of, and experience with, concurrency and asynchronous programming and relational and non-relational databases and data models.
  • You have a CS degree or equivalent real-world experience and knowledge of CS fundamentals.

3. Customer Service Specialist (Full-time / Weekends / Remote)

BaT is growing, and as a result, we’re looking to add a Customer Service Specialist to provide the best possible experience to users in our community. This is a full-time position that can be done remotely. Schedule is Wednesday – Sunday or Saturday – Wednesday to allow for weekend coverage.

Are you an outgoing and empathetic person who is motivated by helping other people to solve problems?  We need you. Your job will be to ensure that BaT users have an easy and enjoyable engagement with the site and one another. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, responsive, and organized.

4. Operations Specialist (Full-time / San Francisco, CA)

Bring a Trailer continues to grow, and so does our office and team! As a result, BaT is looking for an Operations Specialist assist with the execution of our day-to-day operations, ensuring we’re building a highly effective organization through our people and processes.

Are you interested in working on initiatives across all business areas, ensuring that day to day operations run smoothly while fostering an environment where all employees thrive? The ideal candidate is someone who excels at juggling multiple priorities, engaging stakeholders, and solving problems.

This is a full-time position working onsite in our San Francisco headquarters. For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with a cover letter and salary requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • You will oversee and support all administrative duties in the office and ensure that the office is operating smoothly.
  • You will identify opportunities for office improvement and drive the implementation of office systems, procedures, and process improvements.
  • You will be the point-of-contact for coordinating external vendors and visitors.
  • You will work with the Operations Manager and other stakeholders to build and maintain a strong culture and work environment for both local and remote employees.
  • You will assist with basic accounting as needed and process accounts payable for all vendors, customers, and other business needs.
  • You will manage and fulfill merchandise for Bring a Trailer’s online store, as well as work with our design team to assist in the process from sourcing to shipping.
  • You will assist with community engagement initiatives such as our annual charity calendar, driving cross-functional collaboration for successful execution.
  • You will provide other administrative support as necessary, including scheduling group meetings, organizing company events, and maintaining calendars.
  • You will keep the office well-stocked with all supplies.
  • You will be responsible for additional duties and projects as needed.

Required Traits

  • 2-4 years of experience as an office manager or managing a high level of administrative tasks on a daily basis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: a high level of motivation, integrity, and warmth.
  • Methodical organization skills: the ability to manage many different stakeholders and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Can be trusted to be tactful and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Solutions-oriented: you can resolve conflict independently with patience and empathy but know when to ask for guidance.
  • Can-do attitude: you are flexible and eager attitude toward helping with company needs as they arise.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Word, and Excel. A good understanding of basic technology support is a huge plus!
