This Porsche 912 1.6-liter flat-four was acquired by the current owner in 2021, and subsequent work included refinishing the engine tin, air cleaner housings, valve covers, and exhaust components. Additional work reportedly included replacing the fan belt, coil, carburetor gaskets, oil filter, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and sheet metal screws. The engine retains its distributor, generator, clutch, flywheel, muffler, heat exchangers, and Solex carburetors. This Porsche flat-four is now offered at no reserve on behalf of the owner with a rolling cradle in Kingston, Washington.
The flat-four engine displaces 1,582cc with a bore of 82.5mm and a stroke of 74mm. It features a three-piece crankcase, a single camshaft, and a pushrod valvetrain. The seller notes evidence that one of the cylinders has been replaced. The engine is said to turn freely, and gallery photos show the valve covers removed.
Dual Solex 40 PII-4 carburetors are fitted and are topped with factory-style air cleaners. Additional equipment includes a Bosch distributor and coil, a generator, an oil cooler, heat exchangers, a single-outlet exhaust system, an engine tin, a clutch, and a flywheel. The spark plugs and oil were changed during current ownership.
