This 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia coupe is finished in orange over black vinyl and powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a Kenwood cassette stereo, a woodgrain dash, chrome bumpers with overriders, and 15” wheels with polished covers. Work performed under prior ownership is said to have included installing a replacement clutch, throw-out bearing, engine gaskets, front brake pads, and rear drum brake shoes. The seller acquired the car in February 2022 and an oil change was subsequently performed. This Karmann Ghia is now offered at no reserve with an owner’s manual and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The body left the factory in Amber (14) and was repainted under prior ownership. The car features bright trim and mirrors, as well as chrome bumpers with overriders. Corrosion and paint chips are visible on the front wheel arches, and other blemishes include a scuff on the left door, cracks in the rear decklid and right quarter panel, and scratches in the right side of the windshield.
Steel 15” wheels wear polished VW-branded covers and are mounted with 165/80 Classic All Season tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The front brake pads along with rear brake shoes are said to have been replaced under prior ownership.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with a color-coordinated padded dash, door panels, and carpets. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard, and additional amenities include a wooden shift knob, map pockets, and a Kenwood cassette stereo linked to aftermarket speakers in the door panels. The clock and dome light switch work intermittently, the upholstery on the front seats is torn, the headliner is stained, and rust is visible in the front trunk compartment.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 90-mph speedometer, gauges for fuel level and voltage along with an analog clock. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter flat-four sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that the engine gaskets were replaced along with the clutch and throw-out bearing under prior ownership. An oil change was performed in February 2022.
