This 1982 Datsun 280ZX was reportedly used as a dealership display vehicle at Dublin Nissan of Dublin, California, when it was acquired by the seller in 2019. The car is finished in Thunder Black with gold accents over a two-tone tan and brown interior, and is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Features include 14″ alloy wheels, a factory AM/FM cassette stereo, cruise control, and power accessories. Work performed under current ownership is said to have included refurbishing the cassette player, replacing the muffler and speed control unit, and adding a leather steering wheel cover. This 280ZX shows 79k miles and is offered with a Datsun-branded hat, a service manual, pre-delivery inspection records, replacement KYB dampers, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Thunder Black with contrasting gold pinstripes. Additional equipment includes a vented hood with a NACA duct, a power-retractable antenna, aftermarket rear window tint, and a rear window wiper.
Machine-finished 14″ six-spoke alloy wheels with gold accents are wrapped with 225/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. An aftermarket front sway bar was fitted and stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Uninstalled replacement KYB dampers are included with the car.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in tan leather with matching door panels and carpets accompanied by a contrasting brown dashboard and center console. Amenities include a carpeted dash cover, a factory AM/FM cassette stereo, cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks. The cassette deck is said to have been refurbished under current ownership.
A two-spoke steering wheel with an aftermarket leather wrap frames an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Additional auxiliary gauges are mounted on the dash above the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 79k miles, approximately 4,500 of which have been added by the seller.
The 2.8-liter L28E inline-six features fuel injection and was factory rated at 145 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. Work performed in April 2022 is said to have included installing a replacement speed control unit.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. A replacement muffler is said to have been installed, and additional photos of the underbody are provided in the gallery.
The sale includes a Datsun-branded hat, a Haynes service manual, pre-delivery inspection records, and replacement KYB dampers.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in California from an initial entry in 1992. The car most recently passed a California emissions test in January 2021.
