This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in Pearl Gray Metallic over Medium Red leather and is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a body-color removable hardtop, a navy soft top, painted 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM/cassette stereo, and an alarm system. The car has spent much of its life in Maryland and New Jersey, and it was acquired by the selling dealer in May 2022. Work in July 2021 included replacing the water pump, thermostat, steering damper, and front lower control arms. This R107 is now offered at no reserve with service records, literature, a first-aid kit, an award from a car show, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.
The car is finished in Pearl Gray Metallic (122) and features a color-matched removable hardtop and a Navy convertible soft top that was replaced in May 2020. Additional features include quad headlights, front fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. The selling dealer notes evidence of paintwork, and photographs of paint-meter readings are shown in the gallery below.
Painted 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are mounted with 205/65 Michelin Defenders T+H tires. The car was factory equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The front lower control arms, ball joint, and steering damper were replaced in July 2021.
The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in Medium Red leather along with a black upper dashboard and burled wood trim. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM/cassette stereo, an alarm system, and power windows and locks.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 100k miles. The gauge cluster was removed and repaired in May 2022, and total mileage is unknown.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. The water pump and thermostat were replaced in July 2021, and the fuel injectors were replaced in September 2020. The auxiliary water pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel distribution block, and cold-start valve were changed in July 2020.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission mount and differential mount were replaced in June 2020. Additional photographs of the underside are shown in the gallery below.
