This 1978 Toyota Pickup was reportedly sold new by Toyota of Pasadena and is said to have remained registered in the state until 2012. The truck was acquired by the selling dealer in 2017 and subsequent work included a partial repaint in yellow and interior refreshment as well as installing a radiator, a valve cover gasket, drive belts, a windshield, window and door trim, a dash cap, fuel and air filters, and tie-rod ends. Power is provided by a 2.2-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and features include tan vinyl upholstery, refinished 14″ steel wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, an Audiovox push-button radio, and a chrome front bumper. This Toyota Pickup is now offered in Massachusetts at no reserve with a tool roll, a California blue license plate, and a clean California title.
The hood, fender tops, grille, inside of the bed, and areas around the cowl were repainted in Pure Yellow under current ownership. Additional work included replacing the windshield and back glass as well as door seals. Exterior features consist of aftermarket rear-view mirrors, a chrome front bumper, and bed-mounted tie-down points.
Painted 14″ steel wheels wear bright hubcaps and are mounted with Hankook Optima H724 tires showing 2020 date codes up front and 2014 out back. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs, and a spare tire is mounted underneath the bed. Service conducted under current ownership consisted of replacing the tie-rod ends and performing an alignment. The selling dealer states the rear shocks show Toyota stampings and that a “Long Beach Fabricators” sticker is affixed to the bed.
The cab features the stock tan vinyl bench seat with matching door panels and floor coverings. Work performed by the seller included restitching areas of the seat bottom along with refreshing the headliner and installing a dash cap. Equipment includes a period Audiovox push-button radio, a glove box, a heater, and manual crank windows.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, a coolant temperature gauge, and warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 42k miles, approximately 700 of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 2.2-liter 20R inline-four was serviced under current ownership with a radiator, coolant hoses, drive belts, air and fuel filters, a valve cover gasket, and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The underbody is said to have been cleaned and a black coating was applied.
