This Ferrari Colombo V12 engine was recently removed from the seller’s 1957 Ferrari 250 GT, and it is believed by the seller to be a 3.0-liter Tipo 128E version built for an early-1960s 250 GTE model. Components include a flywheel, starter, generator, cooling fan assembly, dual distributors, black-finished exhaust manifolds, dual Fram oil filters, and triple Weber carburetors. This Colombo V12 is now offered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The 3.0-liter engine was removed earlier this year by the Vintage Connection of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, from the vehicle in which it had reportedly been installed since the car was acquired by the seller 16 years ago. Videos in the gallery below show running, driving, and dynamometer testing prior to removal. A photo of dynamometer test results is shown in the gallery.
The numbers 4799 are stamped on the right rear of the engine block and were added in place of the factory stamping under prior ownership according to the seller.
The chain cover also bears a stamping said to have been added during previous ownership.
Three Weber 36 DCS carburetors top the engine and are fitted with plastic plugs.
The valvetrain components remain installed and are detailed in photos. Compression test readings are displayed in the gallery below.
The starter, generator, exhaust manifolds, and cooling fan remain attached and are included in the sale.
