This 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is a left-hand-drive example that was reportedly refurbished under previous ownership in Venezuela before being imported to the US in 2019. The body was removed from the frame and refinished in red, and equipment includes power steering, air conditioning, a rear step bumper, 15″ steel wheels with all-terrain tires, and spare tire carrier. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The truck was acquired by the seller three years ago and subsequent work included installing a roll cage, bucket seats, a center console, steel half-doors, and upgraded audio components. Service performed in 2022 included mounting four tires and performing a tune-up along with replacing the battery and fluids. This 40-series Land Cruiser is now offered with a set of full doors, a removable hardtop, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The body was removed from the frame prior to a repaint in red. Exterior features include a padded roll bar with a bikini top, steel half-doors, a black-painted front grille, and a rear step bumper. A removable hardtop is included in the sale and pictured in the gallery.
Gray-painted 15″ steel wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, and a matching spare is mounted to a swing-out rear carrier. A power steering system is said to have been installed under previous ownership.
The interior features a pair of bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with red stitching and piping. Amenities consist of air conditioning, a locking center console with cup holders, rubber floor mats, and a Kenwood stereo with door speakers. Rust inhibitor is said to have been applied to the floors.
A leather-trimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a body-color dashboard and instrumentation including a 160-km/h speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 229k kilometers (~141k miles), approximately 200 of which were added by the seller.
The 4.2-liter inline-six routes power to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a a two-speed transfer case. The fluids and battery were reportedly changed under current ownership. The seller states that the battery loses its charge following long periods of inactivity.
