This 2003 BMW 540i M Sport is finished in Sterling Gray Metallic over black leather and is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 paired with a five-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. Equipment includes 18″ BBS RSII wheels, xenon headlights, Park Distance Control, a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and the Dinan S2 package, which includes revised suspension parts, air intake components, engine management software, an exhaust system, and branded floor mats. The car was delivered new to BMW Northwest in Fife, Washington, and was acquired in 2010 by the seller. This E39 540i has 86k miles and is now offered with service records, owner’s manuals, accessories, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Sterling Gray Metallic and equipped with the M Sport aerodynamics package. Additional equipment includes a glass sunroof, xenon headlights, headlight washers, fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Park Distance Control, and tinted windows. Stone chips are present throughout the body, and the front bumper cover has been repaired and refinished.
Aftermarket 18″ BBS RSII wheels are wrapped in a mixed set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The Dinan S2 package adds Koni shocks and springs as well as 27mm front and 21mm rear anti-sway bars. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs.
The cabin features heated and power-adjustable front seats trimmed in black leather, while burl wood trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include driver-seat memory settings, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a CD stereo with a trunk-mounted six-disc changer, and Dinan-branded floor mats. An Escort Passport SR1 has been added. The seller notes the twisted seat back was repaired, along with the front headrest motor and window regulator.
The leather-wrapped M Sport steering wheel frames a 155-mph speedometer and a tachometer along with gauges for fuel level, fuel economy, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer indicates 86k miles, approximately 20k of which have been added by the seller since 2010.
The 4.4-liter M62 V8 is equipped with the Dinan S2 package, which added a Dinan air intake, a high-flow mass airflow sensor, a high-flow throttle body, a revised intake manifold, a free-flow exhaust system, and revised engine management software. A Dinan strut tower brace also spans the engine bay. Dinan rated the engine at 321 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes the alternator, battery, valve cover gaskets, and fuel pump were replaced.
A Dinan sticker affixed in the engine bay carries serial number S03239.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. Service in January 2022 reportedly consisted of replacing a transmission seal and changing the fluid. Additional underside images are provided in the gallery below.
Owner’s manuals are included in the sale, along with service records, three keys, and accessories.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists history in Washington State, Arizona, Missouri, and Nevada through the most recent entry in 2019.
