This 2004 Volkswagen R32 is one of 5,017 examples sold in the US and spent time in several states before it was acquired by the seller in New Jersey in December 2021. The car is finished in silver over black leather with cloth inserts and is powered by a 3.2-liter VR6 mated with a six-speed manual transaxle and Haldex all-wheel drive. Equipment includes heated Konig front seats, a glass sunroof, a Monsoon sound system, and 18” OZ Racing wheels. Modifications are said to include Bilstein dampers, H&R sway-bars, a United Motorsports ECU tune, a Magnaflow exhaust, and a USP Motorsports stage two clutch and high-flow catalytic converters. This Mk4 R32 has 160k miles and is offered with an additional front valance and grille, three key fobs, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Reflex Silver Metallic (8E8E) and features a rear spoiler as well as revised bumper covers, side skirts, and twin polished exhaust outlets when compared to the standard Golf. Modifications include a black-finished front grille and a stubby antenna. The seller states paint touchups were performed and that the front bumper cover and hood appear to have been repainted. Corrosion is visible around the wheel arches. A Cupra-style front spoiler is included with the car in addition to a factory grille insert.
Aristo 18″ wheels produced by OZ Racing were reportedly refinished and are mounted with 225/45 Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires with 2021 production date codes. The suspension is modified with Bilstein dampers as well as front and rear H&R sway bars. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes and service is said to have included replacing the ABS sensor along with the brake lines, rotors, and pads.
The cabin features heated Konig front seats that are trimmed in black leather with cloth centers and embroidered ‘R’ logos. Amenities include brushed aluminum trim, automatic climate control, a Monsoon sound system, all-weather floor mats, and aluminum pedal covers. The shifter assembly, center console, emergency brake release button, and steering column covers are said to have been replaced during current ownership. The sale includes a factory key fob and two replacement fobs which, the seller states will start the car but need to be programmed to lock and unlock the car.
A three-spoke steering wheel with carbon-fiber trim frames a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 160k miles. The horn is not functional.
The 3.2-liter VR6 features four valves per cylinder and was reportedly modified with a United Motorsports ECU tune, USP high-flow catalytic converters, and a MagnaFlow exhaust system. Work performed under previous ownership is said to include replacing the timing chain, radiator, and engine mounts. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is delivered to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle and a Haldex-based 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. Modifications are said to include a USP Motorsports stage two clutch and a steel front skid-plate. The Haldex differential is said to have been serviced under previous ownership.
The sale includes a factory front grille insert, a Cupra-style front spoiler, and three key fobs.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
