This replica of an Auburn Boattail Speedster was reportedly built by Speedster Motorcars of Clearwater, Florida in 2012 and is powered by a 5.3-liter GM Vortec V8 paired with a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in orange with a white soft top over matching leather upholstery, and features include air conditioning, power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc brakes, electric windows, chrome wire wheels, a Pioneer CD stereo, and front driving lamps. This Boattail Speedster replica was acquired by the seller in April 2021 and is now being offered with a clean Maryland title in the name of the seller’s wife, listing the vehicle as a 2004 Auburn.
The hand-laid fiberglass bodywork is finished in orange and replicates the Auburn Speedster’s tapered rear styling, rear-hinged doors, and “pontoon” fenders. Additional features include a “flying lady” hood ornament, a raked windshield with triangular wind wings, white soft top, front driving lamps, cowl-mounted turn signal and parking lights, and simulated external exhaust headers.
Chrome wire wheels are mounted with whitewall tires that are said to measure 235/70 up front and 275/60 out back. Braking is through power-assisted four-wheel discs with stainless-steel lines. The car rides on adjustable front coilovers with tubular upper and lower control arms.
The cabin houses a power-adjustable contoured bench seat upholstered in white leather with matching door panels and carpets. Features include air conditioning, power windows, power-assisted steering, and a Pioneer CD stereo.
A banjo-style steering wheel sits ahead of a faux-woodgrain dashboard with turned metal accents housing a suite of Stewart Warner gauges that include a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary displays. The six-digit odometer shows approximately 700 miles, around 20 of which have been added during current ownership.
The 5.3-liter GM Vortec V8 features faux-carbon fiber shrouding and sends power to the rear wheels through a GM 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission equipped with an oil cooler. An oil change was performed in April 2022.
