This 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL is finished in Astral Silver over beige and is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 14″ steel wheels with body-color hubcaps, fog lights, a sunroof, wood interior trim, power windows, air conditioning, and a Becker Grand Prix radio. The car was sold new by Pan Marek Mercedes-Benz of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was recently acquired by the selling dealer. An oil change was carried out in anticipation of the sale. This W116 is offered at no reserve by the selling dealer in Massachusetts with a clean Connecticut title.
The body is finished in Astral Silver (735G) with a grey pinstripe and features slimmer bumpers unique to the 1973 model year in the US market. Additional equipment includes fog lights, an aftermarket grille badge, a sunroof, an automatic antenna, and dual exhaust outlets. Close-up photos of the paintwork, trim, and glass are provided in the gallery below.
Steel 14″ wheels wear polished covers with body-color accents and are mounted with older 215/75 Armstrong Coronet SX/A tires. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin is upholstered in beige and the seats have been recovered in vinyl. Equipment includes power windows, wood trim, floor mats, air conditioning, and a Becker Grand Prix radio.
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a combination gauge. The six-digit odometer shows 61k miles.
The 4.5-liter M117 V8 was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was carried out in January 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
