This 1987 Freightliner Unimog FLU419 is a former military vehicle equipped with a hydraulic front-end loader, a rear-mounted backhoe, portal axles, a raised intake and exhaust, and auxiliary lights. Power is from a 5.7-liter Mercedes-Benz diesel inline-six mated to a manual gearbox with eight forward gears and four reverse gears. The truck was sold on BaT in March 2020 and was later acquired by the seller in February 2021. Recent work is said to have included servicing the hydraulic system and replacing the tires along with changing the engine oil and coolant. This Unimog 419 is offered with a clean Wisconsin title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The 419 was classified as a Small Emplacement Excavator, and this example is finished in a matte camouflage paint scheme. Equipment includes a hydraulic front-end loader, raised intake and exhaust piping, and a rear-mounted backhoe with a folding bucket and dual outriggers.
Black-finished 20” steel wheels show rust and wear knobby Michelin tires that are said to have been fitted in preparation for the sale. Storage lockers are fitted on the passenger side, and the hydraulic system lines are said to have recently been replaced.
The cab features seats upholstered in green all-weather vinyl along with a body-color dashboard and door panels. Controls for the gearbox, transfer case, and accessories sit behind the removable engine cover. The backhoe attachment is controlled via an array of levers mounted ahead of a rear-facing seat.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation in English including a 65-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a grade meter, and a combination gauge. The six-digit odometer shows 875 miles, approximately 25 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 5.7-liter Mercedes-Benz OM352 diesel inline-six is linked with a manual transmission featuring eight forward gears and four in reverse. Service performed in December 2021 included changing the engine oil and coolant.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a dual-range transfer case, locking differentials, and portal axles.
