This Triton motorcycle was assembled in 2016 by Glory Motorworks of Los Angeles, California, with a 1962 Norton Featherbed frame along with a 649cc parallel twin and four-speed transmission from a 1961 Triumph Bonneville T120R. The bike is finished in silver and equipped with a Roadholder fork, keyless ignition, Amal Concentric carburetors, a Unity Equipe aluminum fuel tank, Akront alloy rims, drum brakes, Barleycorn clip-on handlebars, Smiths chronometric gauges, a Bob Newby Racing clutch and primary belt conversion, a chrome dual exhaust system, and a custom solo seat with a central cutout for the oil tank filler. The seller acquired the bike in 2016, and service in January 2022 included cleaning the carburetors and cylinders, tightening the handlebars, replacing the oil tank securing strap, and changing the engine and transmission oils. This Triton was featured at the 2016 Quail Motorcycle Gathering and is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name listing the bike a 1962 Norton.
The black-powdercoated 1962 Norton Dominator Featherbed frame is topped with a Unity Equipe aluminum fuel tank that is finished in silver with black and red striping along with Triton logos in Norton-style lettering. Additional features include black-finished aluminum fenders, a Lucas headlight held by John Tickle ears, a Wipac taillight, a side stand, a left-side bar-end mirror, and a custom black seat with a synthetic suede seating surface, red stitching, and a central cutout for access to the cap on the aluminum oil tank. The securing strap for the oil tank was replaced in January 2022.
Wire-spoke wheels with shouldered Akront alloy rims and Buchanan stainless-steel spokes were mounted with Avon RoadRider tires in 2016. Suspension consists of a Roadholder fork fitted with progressive-rate external springs as well as dual preload-adjustable Hagon shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is supplied by a vented Norton twin leading-shoe front drum fitted with Ferodo shoes along with a rear drum inside a lightened alloy Triumph conical hub.
Stainless-steel Barleycorn clip-on handlebars equipped with Tommaselli Matador levers are secured below the aluminum top yoke, and a Reynolds steering damper adjuster sits atop the steering stem. Smiths chronometric instrumentation mounted in Converta fork-top brackets consists of a 125-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer along with a Lucas ammeter in the top of the headlight bucket. The five-digit odometer shows 40 miles, all of which were ridden by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The pre-unit 649cc Triumph Bonneville T120R parallel twin was converted to use nine-stud cylinder heads fitted with an SRM rocker oil-feed pipe and features keyless ignition, a BT-H magneto, dual Amal Mk1 Concentric 30mm carburetors, an SRM sump plate with an oil drain plug, and a chrome dual exhaust system. Service in January 2022 included cleaning the carburetors and cylinders as well as changing the engine and transmission oils.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a Bob Newby Racing clutch and primary belt conversion kit, a right-side-shifted four-speed transmission, and a drive chain.
The frame stamping shows the number 18 stamped horizontally above a vertically-stacked 99514, and the title lists the VIN as 9951418.
