This 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is finished in Phantom Gray with pinstripes over red leather, and it is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a color-matching removable hardtop, a black soft top, 14″ steel wheels with covers, fog lights, air conditioning, central locking, power windows, and a Becker Mexico cassette stereo. The car is said to have spent time in Minnesota and Iowa prior to its acquisition in December 2021 by the seller, reportedly from the second owner. This R107 shows 102k miles and is now offered on behalf of the owner by his son at no reserve with service records, the owner’s manual, and a clean South Dakota title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in Phantom Gray (733) with two-tone pinstripes, a color-matching removable hardtop, and a black soft top. Additional features include front fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. A scratch is noted on the trunk lid, another scratch is present on the hardtop, and the right door-mirror glass is missing. Replacement glass is included in the sale.
Steel 14″ wheels wear chrome covers with body-color centers and are mounted with Uniroyal Tiger Paw AWP II tires. The car was factory equipped with power steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows, central locking, and a Becker Mexico cassette stereo.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 102k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.5-liter M117 V8 features Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. A coolant sensor was replaced in July 2021, and photographs in the gallery below show a collection of invoices dating back to 1978.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional photographs of the underside are shown in the gallery below.
