This 1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk III is finished in red over black vinyl and is powered by a 1,296cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a convertible soft top and tonneau cover, a front air dam, 13″ steel wheels, manual windows, a dashboard storage shelf, a heater, and lap belts. The car was acquired by the owner in 2012 and underwent a refurbishment that included refreshing the brakes and suspension, repainting the body, and replacing the driveshaft, fuel pump, water pump, coolant hoses, and heater valve. Additional work consisted of installing a Pertronics ignition system, an aftermarket header, and a GM alternator as well as cleaning the fuel system and carburetors. This Spitfire is offered in Canada with the manufacturer’s literature and Ontario registration listing it as a 1970 model.
The body is said to have been removed from the frame, stripped to bare metal, and repainted red during the refurbishment. The floorboards, rocker panels, rear fenders, doors, and hood have reportedly been repaired due to rust. Exterior details include a black convertible soft top and tonneau cover, a front air dam, chrome bumpers, and a driver-side mirror. Chips and scratches are noted around the body and blemishes are visible on the top of the passenger-side door.
White 13″ steel wheels wear polished center caps and are wrapped in 185/80 Autoguard SA602 tires. The brake calipers, pads, lines, and hoses were reportedly replaced under current ownership along with the shocks, springs, tie rod ends, and bushings.
The bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl with white piping along with matching door panels and black carpets. Equipment includes manual windows, a dashboard storage shelf, a heater, and lap belts. The seatbelts are said to have been replaced under previous ownership. The turn signals do not automatically cancel.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts a wooden dashboard that houses Jaeger instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added by the seller.
The 1,296cc engine is equipped with dual SU carburetors. The seller states that an aftermarket header, Pertonics ignition, and a GM alternator have been installed. Additional work reportedly consisted of replacing the fuel pump, water pump, coolant hoses, and heater valve. The fuel system and carburetors have been cleaned, and the hood struts have been replaced.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The driveshaft and the clutch master and slave cylinder have been replaced, and the rear differential has a leak.
