This 1997 BMW M3 coupe is finished in Techno Violet Metallic over a black Nappa leather interior and powered by a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 17″ Style 39 wheels, BC Racing coilovers, manually adjustable Vader front seats, a Sony CD stereo, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and a Mishimoto aluminum radiator. The car has remained registered in California since new and was acquired by the seller in January 2022. Subsequent work is said to have included the installation of an E46 ZHP-sourced steering rack as well as replacement of the front turn signal and side marker assemblies, headlights, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, and accessory and drive belts. This E36 M3 coupe has 169k miles and is offered with an owner’s manual, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in Techno Violet Metallic with a sunroof as well as factory aerodynamic bumpers, side sills, and mirrors. Work performed under current ownership reportedly included replacement of the front window cowl, window moldings, headlights, and front turn signal and side marker assemblies. Noted flaws are shown in the gallery and include bubbles in the rear window tint as well as water spots on the hood and trunk.
Staggered-width 17″ Style 39 wheels are mounted with 225/45 front and 245/40 rear Pirelli P Zero tires. The car is equipped with BC Racing coilovers, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs. An E46 ZHP-sourced steering rack was reportedly installed under current ownership along with a replacement steering coupler, power steering reservoir, hoses, and inner and outer tie rods.
The cabin features manually adjustable Vader front seats upholstered in Black Nappa leather along with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes a Sony CD stereo, an onboard computer, dual-zone automatic climate control, and cruise control. The seller states that work under current ownership included reupholstering the rear window shelf as well as replacing the headliner and floor mats.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset fuel economy gauge, and additional gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 169k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.2-liter S52 inline-six was factory rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. The car is equipped with a Mishimoto aluminum radiator, and work performed since February 2022 reportedly included an oil change as well as replacement of the spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, and accessory and drive belts.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are shown in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in California.
