This 1966 Pontiac GTO hardtop was delivered new to Roberts Pontiac of Martins Ferry, Ohio, and was refinished in the early 2000s before being acquired by the owner in April 2022. The car is finished in Montero Red over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a 389ci V8 paired with a two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black vinyl roof, a hood scoop, 14″ steel wheels with polished covers, dual exhaust outlets, bucket seats, power windows, a rear window defroster, and power-assisted steering and brakes. This GTO is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a build sheet, a dealer shipping record, historical documents, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Ohio title.
The car was delivered new in Montero Red (R) with a black vinyl roof and is said to have been refinished under previous ownership in the early 2000s. Equipment includes a hood scoop, stacked headlamps, GTO badging, black pinstriping, chrome bumpers, dual exhaust outlets, red fender liners, and bright finished rocker and wheel arch trim.
Red-finished 14″ steel wheels wear bright hub caps and are mounted with 7.75-width Firestone Deluxe Champion redline tires. A matching spare wheel and tire are mounted in the trunk. Power-assisted steering was factory optioned, and the power-assisted four-wheel drum brakes are said to have been recently serviced with replacement brake shoes, wheel cylinders, brake booster, and hoses.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in black vinyl and are joined by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Additional equipment includes power windows, lap belts, a cabin heater, a rear window defroster, a locking glovebox, and rubber floor mats. The power-adjustable seat mechanism is broken.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a woodgrain instrument panel that houses a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, approximately 25 of which were added under current ownership.
The 389ci V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 335 horsepower when new. The engine is fitted with a chrome air cleaner cover and valve covers.
Power is delivered to the wheels through a two-speed automatic transmission. Additional underbody photos are available in the gallery.
The dealer shipping record shows factory equipment, delivery to Roberts Pontiac, and a total price of $3,659. A build sheet along with manufacturer’s literature and copies of promotional materials are included in the sale.
