This 1986.5 Porsche 928S is a black-over-black example that was acquired in April 2022 by the current owner, and subsequent work included replacing the timing belt and water pump assembly as well as the steering gear, climate control diaphragms, tires, thermostat, an oxygen sensor, and the fuel filter and strainer. The car is powered by a 5.0-liter DOHC V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transaxle and a limited-slip differential, and equipment includes front and rear spoilers, a sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, pop-up headlights, fog lights, air conditioning, and forged 16″ wheels. This 928S is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a tool kit, a sunroof tool, a spare tire, a jack, service records from current ownership, an accident-free Carfax report, and an Ohio title.
The car was ordered in black (L700) and is said to have been repainted under prior ownership. Features include front and rear spoilers, headlight washers, integrated fog lights, a power-operated sunroof, body-color mirror caps, side moldings, dual exhaust outlets, and a rear window wiper. Scratches and paint chips are visible in the gallery below.
Forged 16″ wheels are mounted with 225/50 Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 tires that were mounted in April 2022. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs and the car is equipped with power-assisted steering, and the steering gear was replaced in April 2022.
The cabin features power-adjustable front seats upholstered in black leather. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, and an Alpine CD stereo with a Blaupunkt amplifier. The climate control diaphragms were replaced during current ownership, along with the rear hatch seal and hood release handle. Cracked and warped interior panels are documented in the gallery below along with areas of separation on the rear sun visors and seat upholstery.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer and a tachometer along with gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery voltage. The odometer indicates 6k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the seller, and a sticker on the door jamb indicates the odometer was repaired or replaced in 2001. The Carfax report shows a mileage inconsistency reported in April 2022, and true mileage is unknown.
The 5.0-liter DOHC V8 features LH-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 288 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. The timing belt and water pump assembly were replaced during current ownership along with the thermostat, engine mounts, intake manifold hoses, an oxygen sensor, accessory drive belts, hood lift supports, cowl cover, battery, and fuel filter, hose, and strainer.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted four-speed automatic transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery below.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and displays history in Ohio and Indiana from the first entry in 1994. A Not Actual Mileage title was issued in 2001, and a mileage inconsistency was reported in April 2022. A gap in entries on the report is noted from 2003 until 2022.
The Ohio title lists a mileage notation stating “non-actual warning: odometer discrepancy”.
