This 1948 Crosley CC Four convertible is finished in ivory over tan upholstery and powered by a 44ci CIBA inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The bodywork is said to have been customized in the 1950s in Oklahoma and was acquired in Florida by the seller’s late father in 2013 before being refurbished and placed in storage in 2017. Refurbishment work consisted of refinishing the body, installing the replacement engine, and retrimming the interior. Features include modified headlights, taillights, and door contours, a custom grille, 12″ steel wheels with polished hubcaps, chrome bumpers with overriders, a rear-mounted spare, and an Arvin AM radio. This modified Crosley CC is offered by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s wife with an uninstalled Firestone auxiliary radio speaker and a Minnesota title.
The body is finished in ivory and is said to have been modified in the 1950s with frenched headlamps, modified door contours, removal of the side window frames, and reinforcement of the bodywork with 3/4″ tubing. The 2013 refurbishment reportedly included refinishing the body and installation of a custom grille and taillights sourced from a 1952 Oldsmobile. Additional exterior features consist of a split windshield, side vents, exterior hood straps, Crosley Super badging, and chrome mirrors and bumpers with overriders.
Red-painted 12″ steel wheels wear polished Crosley-script hubcaps and 155/80 Nankang CX-668 tires. A matching spare is mounted to a rear carrier. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.
The cockpit features seating upholstered in tan vinyl and houndstooth cloth joined by matching door panels, carpets, and a painted dashboard. Amenities include a white Crosley shift knob, cabin heater, lighter, glove box, lap belts, floor mats, and an Arvin AM radio. A Firestone auxiliary radio speaker is included in the sale and shown in the gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 70-mph speedometer and a multi-function gauge for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage. The instruments are said to have been refurbished in 2013, and the five-digit mechanical odometer shows 331 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 44ci inline-four features a later-model CIBA cast-iron block and was factory-rated at 26.5 horsepower. Features include a cast-aluminum valve cover and a modified low-profile aluminum air cleaner assembly.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. There is rust on the underbody, and holes are present in the floorboards. Recent service is said to have included replacing the fuel filter and flushing the fuel tank. Additional underbody photos are available in the gallery.
