This 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof was produced at Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, facility, and is said to have resided in Tennessee before it was recently acquired by the seller. The car is powered by a replacement 351ci Cleveland V8 equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a 4.10:1 rear end, a Hurst shifter, MSD ignition components, AutoMeter gauges, front disc brakes, and polished 15″ wheels. The car was repainted and fitted with an aftermarket hood during prior ownership, while work conducted by the seller included an oil change. This Mustang is now offered with a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted during prior ownership according to the seller, who notes the presence of body filler on the rear valance as well as wear and imperfections on portions of the body. Features include a Boss 429-style hood scoop, front and rear spoilers, and ‘Boss 429’ graphics on each fender. Checking in the paint on the roof is shown in the gallery below, and the seller states that the passenger-side floor pan has been replaced.
Pacer 15″ staggered-width wheels wear a polished finish are mounted with Vanderbilt and BFGoodrich tires. The car is equipped with disc brakes up front and drums in the rear.
The interior features high-back front seats with black knit vinyl inserts as well as a matching rear seat. A Hurst shifter is housed within the center console, and AutoMeter instrumentation has been installed on the steering column and the base of the dashboard. No radio is fitted, and tears and seam separations on the upholstery and trim are depicted in the image gallery below.
Stock instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and battery charge. The five-digit odometer shows 2k miles, approximately 300 of which have been added during the seller’s ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement 351ci V8 was installed during prior ownership in place of the factory F-code 302ci V8. Features include a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Ford Motorsport valve covers, an aluminum radiator, an MSD ignition module, and full-length exhaust headers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission linked to a 9″ rear end equipped with 4.10:1 gearing. The seller notes clutch chatter and states that the transmission will occasionally pop out of third gear. Additional photos are presented in the gallery below showing the underside as well as corrosion on portions of the mechanical components.
