This 2001 BMW M5 is powered by a 4.9-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission and is finished in black over matching Nappa leather. Equipment includes 18″ Style 65 wheels, a limited-slip differential, a sunroof, xenon headlights, fog lights, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and navigation. The car spent time in New York and New Jersey before being acquired by the seller in 2021 and subsequently relocated to California. This E39 M5 has 28k miles and is now offered with two remote keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Black II with Shadowline trim and features xenon headlights with washers, fog lamps, a glass sunroof, a trunk lid spoiler, rain-sensing wipers, and quad exhaust outlets. Rock chips are noted on the front end.
Chrome Shadow 18″ Style 65 wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 245/40 up front and 275/35 out back. The car features Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Automatic Stability Control (ASC). The front-left lower control arm and left-rear sway bar bracket were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The cabin features black Nappa leather covering the heated power-adjustable front sport seats, door panel inserts, center console, and lower dashboard, while burl walnut wood accents the upper dashboard, center console, and doors. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, cruise control, and M5-branded floor mats. The toggle switch for the passenger-side center A/C vent is broken, and wear is visible on the seat upholstery.
The multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts an M-branded 185-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a variable redline, along with gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 28k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller.
The 4.9-liter S62 V8 is equipped with individual throttle bodies and double-VANOS continuously variable valve timing. It was factory rated at 394 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm. A Dinan exhaust system has been added. Work in May 2022 included replacement of a power steering hose and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in New York, New Jersey, and California.
