This 1983 Jeep Cherokee Laredo is a two-door wagon that comes from the final year of SJ Cherokee production and was acquired by the current owner in April 2021. The truck is finished in Classic Black over a black and gray interior and power is supplied by a 360ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and Selec-Trac four-wheel drive. Equipment includes electronic ignition, a power-retractable rear window, air conditioning, and a RetroSound stereo head unit. Work conducted in preparation for the sale is said to have included fluid changes, installation of an Edelbrock carburetor, and replacement of the tires. This SJ Cherokee is now offered on dealer consignment with an accident-free Carfax report and a clean North Carolina title.
This example was delivered new in Classic Black (P1), and features include driving lights with Hella covers, wheel arch flares, a roof rack, a tow ball, and pop-out rear side windows. A stone chip is noted on the right side of the windshield and faded paint and other blemishes are captured in the photo gallery below.
Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels feature black accents and were fitted with 31×10.5″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires in preparation for the sale, according to the selling dealer. Equipment includes power steering and power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes.
The interior is outfitted with replacement multi-tone seat upholstery and black carpeting that is said to have been installed under previous ownership. Amenities include a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, a power-operated rear tailgate window, air conditioning, a digital clock, and a Bluetooth-capable RetroSound stereo head unit. The cruise control is currently inoperative.
An engine-turned instrument panel houses an 85-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 188k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added by the current owner. The Carfax report notes that an Exceeds Mechanical Limits title was first issued in North Carolina in March 1990, and a mileage inconsistency entry in November 2021. Total mileage is unknown.
The 360ci V8 is equipped with electronic ignition and sends power to all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a Selec-Trac four-wheel-drive system. The selling dealer reports that the engine and transmission were rebuilt during prior ownership, though supporting records are unavailable. Work in preparation for the sale is said to have included an oil change, transmission service, installation of an Edelbrock carburetor, and replacement of the accessory drive belts.
Corrosion is evident on the underside, additional photos of which are provided in the gallery below.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned mileage inconsistency and Exceeds Mechanical Limits title issuances along with history in North and South Carolina. A redacted copy of the current title is provided in the gallery below
