This 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL500 is finished in Glacier White over Parchment leather and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a body-color removable hardtop, a power-operated black soft top, 16″ 12-hole alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and a Bose sound system. The car was previously listed by the selling dealer on BaT in April 2021, and it now has 7k miles. This R129 is offered at no reserve in Maryland with manufacturer’s literature, a window sticker, a clean Carfax report, and a clean North Carolina title.
The car is finished in Glacier White (143) and features a power-operated black soft top and a body-color removable hardtop. Additional equipment includes headlight wipers, fog lights, and fender air vents. The right side of the car was reportedly repainted under prior ownership, and the soft top hydraulic cylinders, antenna mast and seal, right fog light, and right sideview mirror glass and motor assembly are said to have been replaced in 2021.
The 16″ 12-hole alloy wheels are mounted with 225/55 Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 tires, and a full-size spare tire is mounted in the trunk. Brake dust shields are said to have been added, and the front ball joints were reportedly replaced in February 2021.Â
The cabin features power-adjustable seats upholstered in Parchment leather (265) along with burl wood accents on the doors and center stack. Amenities include a deployable roll bar, automatic climate control, cruise control, a wind deflector, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, a heated rear hardtop window, and a Bose sound system. The trunk-lid struts, headlight switch, and headliner were reportedly replaced in 2021.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The odometer indicates just under 7k miles.
The 5.0-liter M119 V8 was factory rated at 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque when new. The crankshaft actuator gaskets were reportedly replaced in February 2021 along with the accessory drive belt, tensioner pulley, battery, and hood insulation pad. Fluid and filter changes were also carried out.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
The window sticker shows factory colors and equipment, initial delivery to Leith Inc. of Raleigh, North Carolina, and a total price of $81,495.
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with a tool kit and two keys.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in North Carolina and Florida through its most recent entry in November 2020.
