This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible is powered by a 289ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in green with a white soft top over beige vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes 14″ steel wheels with hubcaps, power steering and brakes, chrome trim, a white boot cover, reverse lamps, bucket seats, and a white-rimmed steering wheel. The car is said to have been acquired by the current owner in 1979, and refurbishment work completed in the 2010s included repairing and repainting the body, rebuilding the engine and differential, refreshing the brakes, retrimming the interior, and replacing the convertible top and tires. This Mustang convertible is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owners with engine rebuild records and a Wisconsin title.
Body corrosion was reportedly repaired before the car was repainted in green using a 2001 Ford paint color. Features include a replacement white soft top with a matching boot cover, “Mustang” and “289” badging, faux quarter panel vents, reverse lamps, a driver-side mirror, a dual-exit exhaust, and chrome trim on the bumpers, rocker panels, window surrounds, and door hardware.
The 14″ steel wheels wear Mustang-logo hubcaps and 195/75 Hankook Optimo white-line tires. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted brakes, and a full-size spare wheel is stored in the trunk. The jack is missing. The seller states the brakes were rebuilt as part of the refurbishment, and the tires were replaced in 2020.
The front bucket and rear bench seating were retrimmed in beige Pony premium vinyl upholstery as part of the refurbishment, and they are joined by matching door panels, a body-colored dashboard, and black carpets. Additional equipment includes vent windows, a floor-mounted gear selector, and a glovebox. There is not a radio installed, and the heater does not work.
The white-rimmed steering wheel features a Mustang center emblem and fronts a 120-mph speedometer and gauges displaying fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 2,600 miles, approximately 300 of which have been added since the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown.
The 289ci V8 breathes through a two-barrel carburetor and was rebuilt in 2018 with work including boring the cylinders, polishing the crankshaft, and replacing the pistons, piston rings, and rod bearings. The seller notes both the power steering pump and heater core seep fluid. The carburetor was serviced in preparation for sale but requires further adjustment.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a rebuilt differential.
The Wisconsin title is listed as a replacement and shows a “Not Actual” odometer status.
