This 1971 Oldsmobile 442 hardtop is powered by a rebuilt 455ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and it has been refinished in its factory color of Sienna with a white vinyl top and matching white stripes over a Parchment-colored interior. The car was factory-equipped with the W-30 package, which included a scooped fiberglass hood, sport mirrors, and contrasting stripes. The car was delivered new to Big Two Oldsmobile in Mesa, Arizona, and spent time in Illinois before the current owner acquired it in 1998, reportedly from the second owner. Equipment includes an Anti-Spin 3.42:1 differential, power-assisted steering, front disc brakes, heavy-duty suspension, Strato-Bucket front seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, a Hurst Dual-Gate shifter, powered windows and door locks, an AM/FM radio, and an 8-track player. This W-30 442 is now offered on behalf of the current owner with manufacturer’s literature, a production data card, a spare set of wheels, and a clean Illinois title.
The pillarless coupe was finished from the factory in Sienna (67) with a white vinyl roof, and it is said to have been repainted in the late 1980s. The W-30 package included a fiberglass dual-inlet hood, sport mirrors, white accent stripes, and 442 badging.
Painted and polished 15″ Super Stock I wheels wear BFGoodrich white-letter tires, and a matching spare is stored in the trunk. The power-assisted braking system incorporates discs up front and drums at the rear, and power-assisted steering was factory-installed. a spare set of five Super Stock II wheels are included in the sale.
The interior is trimmed in Parchment vinyl (937) with a black dashboard and carpeting. Features include Strato-Bucket front seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, a Hurst Dual-Gate shifter, cruise control, woodgrain trim, powered windows and door locks, and an AM/FM radio linked to an Oldsmobile 8-track player and a rear speaker.
Instrumentation framed by the Rally-style steering wheel includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and a combination gauge. Approximately 7k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, about 2k of which have been added by the current owner. True mileage is unknown.
The 455ci V8 featured an exclusive camshaft and cylinder heads in W-30 trim as well as a specific air cleaner, Quadrajet carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, and distributor. Red plastic inner fender wells were factory equipment. The engine is said to have been rebuilt during prior ownership and sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and an Anti-Spin differential equipped with 3.42:1 gearing.
The stamping on the engine-block pad ends in 1M124520, which matches the last eight characters of the vehicle’s serial number. A photo of the transmission’s OW tag is provided in the gallery below along with additional casting and stampings numbers.
Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
The production data card showing the W-30 option, Sienna paint (67), and other specifications is included in the sale along with the aforementioned owner’s manuals.
