This 1959 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite is finished in yellow over black vinyl and powered by a replacement 1,098cc inline-four paired with a rib-case four-speed manual transmission. The car was acquired by the seller in 2017 as an unfinished project, and subsequent work is said to have included repainting the body, replacing the windshield, and reupholstering the seats. Equipment includes 13” wheels, front disc brakes, and a removable soft top and sliding side windows. This Bugeye is now offered with spare parts, a workshop manual, and a clean Nebraska title in the seller’s name.
The body is said to have been refinished in its current shade of yellow in 2020 and features a removable black soft top and sliding side windows. The front clip and windshield are said to be replacement units. A tear in the soft top is shown up close in the gallery.
Silver-finished 13” steel wheels sourced from an MG wear AH-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 155/80 Hifly HF201 tires. A sway bar has been fitted up front along with disc brakes, and the brake fluid is said to have been replaced in November 2021.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats that have been reupholstered in black vinyl with white piping and are accompanied by a matching black dash and door panels. The heater valve is said to have been replaced, and the seller notes that the windshield wiper park position is set incorrectly.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The seller notes that the tachometer drive gear and cable were replaced in 2021, though the cable binds and the reading is inaccurate. The five-digit odometer shows 22k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
A replacement 1,098cc inline-four features dual SU carburetors fed by an electric fuel pump. The generator is said to have been replaced, and the electrical system has been converted to negative earth. An oil change was last performed in November 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rib-case four-speed manual transmission with a non-synchromesh first gear. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
A collection of spare parts will accompany the car.
