This 1985 Porsche 928S is powered by a 5.0-liter DOHC V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transaxle and is finished in Guards Red over black leather. Equipment includes 16″ flat disc wheels, a sunroof, power-adjustable sport seats, pop-up headlights, fog lights, a Blaupunkt Monterey cassette stereo, and cruise control. The current owner acquired the car in June 2021 and has since added approximately 500 of the 59k miles shown. The tires, steering rack, and under-hood insulation are said to have been replaced under current ownership, and a timing-belt service was performed in October 2019. This 928S is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in Guards Red and features pop-up headlights with washers, integrated fog lights, body-color mirror caps, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, a rear window wiper, and dual exhaust outlets. The front spoiler is missing, and paint damage is noted on the right side of the front bumper cover.
The 16″ flat disc wheels feature Porsche crest center caps and are wrapped in Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires that are said to have been installed in June 2021 along with an alignment. The car is equipped with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering as well as vented disc brakes at each corner and front and rear stabilizer bars. Rear brake components and the front struts were replaced in November 2020, and the steering rack is said to have been replaced recently.
The cabin features power-adjustable front sport seats upholstered in black leather. Interior amenities include cruise control, a Blaupunkt Monterey cassette stereo, and power windows. Air conditioning is equipped, but a compressor mounting bracket is bent and the compressor belt is disconnected. A tear is noted in the sunroof liner.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,000-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 59k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.0-liter DOHC V8 features LH-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 288 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. A timing belt service was performed in October 2019, when the water pump was replaced, and work between June and November 2020 included an oil change and replacing the throttle-position sensor and valve cover gaskets. The under-hood insulation is also said to have been replaced recently.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted four-speed automatic transaxle, which was resealed in November 2020. A leak is noted from the transaxle.
Decoding the option sticker reveals the following information:
- L027 – Guards Red paint
- C03 – Emissions equipment for California
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists registration history in Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio starting in 1993.
