This 2005 Mazda RX-8 is one of 1,357 Shinka Edition examples produced for the North American market during two years of production. The car is finished in Black Cherry Mica over Parchment and black leather upholstery, and power comes from a 1.3-liter Renesis rotary engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a sport-tuned suspension, 18″ alloy wheels, fog lights, a Bose audio system, heated front seats, air conditioning, and cruise control. The car reportedly remained in Maine with its original owner until 2018 and subsequently was sold on BaT in May 2019 before being acquired by the selling dealer in April 2022. This RX-8 Shinka Edition shows 30k miles and is now offered in Florida with manufacturer’s literature, two key fobs, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title.
The car is finished in Shinka Edition-specific Black Cherry Mica (28W) and features reversed-hinged rear doors, fog lights, a rear window glass antenna, and bright-finished dual exhaust outlets.
Factory 18″ five-spoke aluminum wheels are mounted with 225/45 Dunlop Signature HP tires. Braking is handled by ventilated anti-lock discs at all four corners. The car came factory-equipped with independent double-wishbone front suspension and independent multi-link rear suspension, a shock tower brace, stabilizer bars, and Dynamic Stability Control.
The interior features seats upholstered in Parchment leather with matching door panel inserts and a contrasting black dashboard, center console, and carpets. Amenities include heated front seats with power driver adjustment, air conditioning, aluminum pedals, keyless entry, cruise control, and a Bose CD stereo.
The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel features paddle shifters and fronts a 9k-rpm tachometer with an inset digital speedometer, as well as auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer indicates 30k miles.
The Renesis two-rotor Wankel engine displaces 1.3 liters and was factory rated at 197 horsepower and 164 lb-ft of torque. A label is affixed to the radiator core support indicating that a safety recall for the fuel pump was performed in October 2017.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with a Tochigi Fuji limited-slip differential. Corrosion and scrape marks are present on the underside, additional photos of which are provided in the image gallery below.
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists history in Maine, Florida, and Illinois.
