This 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa coupe is finished in green over white vinyl upholstery and is powered by a turbocharged 164ci flat-six paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, four-wheel independent suspension, and drum brakes. Work under prior ownership included repairing rust damage and body dents, repainting the car, polishing and re-plating the brightwork, applying undercoating, reupholstering the interior, and rebuilding the drivetrain, brakes, and suspension along with installing 15″ Buick GS-style wheels, lowering springs, a front spoiler, dashboard center gauges, and a keyless entry and remote locking and trunk-release system. The seller acquired the car in 2014 and subsequent work included re-plating the bumpers, repainting the decklid, and installing a rear spoiler, power window lifts, a Pertronix Flamethrower ignition coil, an Optima battery, yellow-lens headlights, replacement carpeting, a refurbished carburetor, and an oil cooler and fan with an on/off toggle switch. Service in December 2021 is said to have included replacing the fuel pump, clutch, horns, driver-side armrest, and windshield washer pump along with installing an electric backup fuel pump. This Corvair is now offered with an assembly manual, refurbishment records, partial service records, spare parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Artesian Turquoise and was repainted during prior ownership. Refurbishment work also included applying undercoating, polishing and re-plating the brightwork, relocating the fuse box to the trunk, replacing the glass and fuel tank, and installing a front spoiler, LED taillights, and LED courtesy lights. Work under current ownership included re-plating the bumpers, repainting the decklid, and installing a rear spoiler, yellow-tinted headlights, and an alarm.
Replica Buick GS-style 15″ wheels with Corvair-logo center caps wear 205/60 front and 225/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. A quicker-ratio Flaming River steering box was fitted as were lowering springs for the rebuilt suspension. The braking system features a 9.5″ drum at each wheel and was rebuilt and fitted with stainless-steel lines.
The interior features front bucket and rear bench seats that were reupholstered in white vinyl along with matching door panels and replacement green carpeting. Amenities include power windows, LED gauge lighting, a push-button AM radio, remote locking and keyless entry, a fuel cut-off switch and trunk release hidden in the ash tray, and a center console with cupholders and USB outlets on the outside and a Kenwood CD stereo on the inside.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts LED-illuminated instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, manifold pressure, and the temperature of each cylinder head. The dashboard center stack was modified to house additional gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, and voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The turbocharged and air-cooled 164ci flat-six was rebuilt during the refurbishment, which also included concealing the engine compartment wiring. Factory-rated output was 180 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Modifications include an Offenhauser oil pan and valve covers, a heavy-duty alternator, a Pertronix Flamethrower ignition coil, a refurbished Carter carburetor, a Magnaflow muffler, an Optima Redtop battery, and a heavy-duty oil cooler and fan with a console-mounted switch.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. Work in December 2021 reportedly included replacing the clutch and mechanical fuel pump and installing an electric back-up pump, followed by replacing the starter in June 2022.
