This 1961 Chrysler 300G is one of 337 convertibles produced for the model year and is finished in Mardi Gras Red over white leather upholstery. Power is provided by a 413ci V8 paired with a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Features include a white convertible soft top, push-button transmission control, power steering, Kelsey Hayes wire wheels, wide whitewall tires, a cross-ram intake with dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors, MSD electronic ignition, power windows, and a Golden-Touch AM radio. The car is said to have been owned by John Staluppi and was reportedly refurbished during previous ownership and acquired by the selling dealer in 2015. This 300G convertible is offered with a fitted car cover, manufacturer’s literature, service manuals, two sets of keys, and a clean Wisconsin title.
The 300 letter series received annual styling updates beginning in 1956, and the sixth iteration was designated the 300G. The car is finished in Mardi Gras Red and is said to have been repainted during previous ownership. Features include a white convertible soft top, a power antenna, quad angled headlamps, fender-mounted mirrors, tri-color 300G badging, finned quarter panels, and a dual-outlet exhaust that exits below the rear bumper.
The chrome 15″ Kesley Hayes wire wheels are mounted with L78-15 Remington Cushion-Aire whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, a torsion bar front suspension, and semi-elliptical rear leaf springs. Braking is handled by hydraulic drums at all four corners.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in white leather joined by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and convertible top boot. Equipment includes swiveling front seats, black carpeting, a Golden-Touch AM radio, remote mirror control, a dash-mounted electric clock, power windows, and polished trim on the console, seat frames, door sills, and footrests.
The two-spoke steering wheel has a tri-color 300-badged horn button and frames an AstraDome instrument cluster containing a 150-mph speedometer and gauges for amperage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. A 6k-rpm tachometer is mounted in the center console. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 413ci wedge-head V8 breathes through twin Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors on a polished cross-ram intake manifold with individual runners. Features include MSD electronic ignition and a polished alternator, air cleaner lids, and valve covers. The oil was changed and the radiator was flushed in 2021.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission.
The car has been assigned identification number 8413197153 from the state of Illinois. The assigned identification number matches the VIN listed on the title.
