This 1994 Mazda RX-7 is one of 1,110 US-market examples ordered in Montego Blue Mica for the model year, and it was initially delivered to Sonny Hancock Mazda of Gastonia, North Carolina, before being acquired by the seller in 1996. The car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter Wankel rotary mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 16″ squeeze-cast wheels, a front spoiler, pop-up headlights, a sunroof, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, and a Kenwood AM/FM CD stereo. Work carried out during current ownership included an exterior repaint, an engine overhaul, and installation of an aftermarket exhaust system. This FD RX-7 is offered with two keys, manufacturer’s literature, a window sticker, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Iowa title in the seller’s name.
The car was ordered in Montego Blue Mica, and it is said to have been refinished in 2016 following bodywork performed on the driver’s door, driver-side rear quarter panel, passenger-side front fender, and both bumpers. Features include pop-up headlights, a front spoiler, fender vents, a sunroof, and a power-operated antenna. The seller states that the rear hatch glass has been replaced, an the inner trim piece behind the passenger-side front fascia is damaged.
Squeeze-cast 16″ five-spoke wheels are mounted with 225/50 Kumho Ecsta 4X tires that show 2011 date codes. The double-wishbone suspension consists of coil springs and dampers at all four corners along with forged aluminum control arms. Stopping power is provided by four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers with vented rotors. The seller states that various suspension bushings are in need of replacement.
The cabin features bolstered bucket seats trimmed in tan leather upholstery, and additional equipment includes aluminum brake and clutch pedals, dual airbags, a rear cargo cover, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, and a Kenwood AM/FM CD stereo. A factory exhaust temperature warning light is mounted on the center console, and storage compartments are located behind the seats. The seller states that the air conditioning system is inoperable, the rear drive-side compartment cover hinge post is damaged, and the removed factory stereo is included in the sale.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames chrome-ringed instrumentation including a central tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a 180-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates under 67k miles, approximately 52k of which were added during current ownership.
The car is powered by a 1.3-liter Wankel rotary engine that was overhauled by Rotors Performance of Council Bluffs, Iowa, in April 2016. Additional service carried out at that time included removing the catalytic converter, installing a Racing Beat exhaust system, and replacement of the clutch, serpentine belts, and radiator hoses. An oil change was reportedly carried out in 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Additonal underbody photos are shown in the gallery below.
The window sticker shows factory colors, equipment, and a total price of $38,805.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in South Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Illinois, and Iowa.
