This 1986 GMC C2500 High Sierra is a single-cab example finished in red over a burgundy interior and is powered by a replacement 454ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a chrome front bumper, a painted rear step bumper, dual fuel tanks, air conditioning, cruise control, and a receiver hitch. The truck was sold new at Weld County Garage in Greeley, Colorado, and was acquired by the seller in November 2021, reportedly from the grandson of the second owner. Work performed during current ownership included reupholstering the bench seat, replacing the tires, and servicing the air conditioning and braking systems. This C2500 is now offered with the removed 350ci V8, additional spare and removed parts, the original sale agreement, manufacturer’s literature, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The truck is finished in red with silver pinstripes and a chrome front bumper. Additional equipment includes stainless steel side mirrors, a painted rear step bumper, a cargo lamp, wing windows, and a receiver hitch. The seller notes paint imperfections on the right door and right side of the hood, and additional flaws include a ding on the left door, peeling and faded black bodyside trim, drilled holes in the bed, and rust behind the left rear wheel arch. A chip in the windshield has reportedly been repaired.
White-painted 16″ steel wheels wear GMC hubcaps and 245/75 Corsa Highway Terrain Plus tires showing 2020 date codes. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Service under current ownership reportedly included resurfacing the front rotors and drums, replacing the front brake pads, and flushing the brake fluid.
The cab features a bench seat reupholstered in red cloth with burgundy vinyl accents. A Vintage Air compressor and condenser were installed and the air conditioning system was recharged under current ownership. The cruise control stalk is worn, the dashboard is cracked, the door panels and carpeting are faded, and the push-button AM/FM radio makes a cracking sound when initially powered on.
The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and frames an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The seller notes that the voltage gauge is a replacement. The five-digit odometer shows 89k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added by the seller.
The seller states that the replacement 454ci V8 was rebuilt prior to being installed during current ownership. The engine was reportedly sourced from a 1986 Camper Special, and the drive belts and hoses are said to have been changed during the replacement. The engine is fed by dual fuel tanks, and the seller states that the engine does not start immediately after sitting for long periods of time. The removed 350ci V8 is included in the sale and depicted in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH400 automatic transmission. A transmission leak is noted on the flex plate cover and additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.
The original sale agreement from Weld County Garage in Greeley, Colorado, shows factory options and colors as well as a total price of $19,814. Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and spare and removed parts are included in the sale.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Colorado beginning with the first entry in April 2003.
