This 1975 Mercedes-Benz 240D is finished in Midnight Blue over beige vinyl and is powered by a 2.4-liter diesel inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is said to have spent much of its life in Wyoming and was acquired by the seller in Kentucky in 2021, reportedly from the family of its original owner. Equipment includes fog lights, 14″ wheels, power steering, power-assisted disc brakes, central locking, and a replacement Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo. Work since 2021 has reportedly included servicing the fuel system, adjusting the idle speed, and replacing the tires, battery, oil pan gasket, water pump, and coolant hoses. This W115 is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a tool kit, and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Midnight Blue (904) and features fog lights, chrome trim, a left-side mirror, and US-market bumpers and lighting. The power-operated antenna does not work, there is a crack in the windshield, and the windshield washer jets are inoperable. The seller notes dings and scratches on the body and a ding on the rear bumper.
Steel 14″ wheels wear polished covers with body-colored centers and were reportedly mounted with 185/70 Hankook Kinergy ST tires during current ownership. The car is equipped with fully-independent suspension, power steering, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Two spare wheels wearing winter tires are included in the sale.
The cabin features seats trimmed in beige vinyl with matching door panels and carpeting. Equipment includes hand-crank windows, a locking glove box, and an aftermarket Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo with kick-panel-mounted speakers. The dashboard lights do not work, the seats need to be re-stuffed, the air conditioning is said to function intermittently, and the right turn signal stalk does not always remain engaged during operation.
VDO instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the seller.
The 2.4-liter OM616 diesel inline-four was factory rated at 64 horsepower and 101 lb-ft of torque when new. Maintenance under current ownership is said to have included an oil change, cleaning of the injection pump valve and throttle body, adjustment of the idle speed, and replacement of the oil pan gasket, hand primer pump, fuel pre-filter, fuel filter, battery, water pump, and coolant hoses. The hood insulation pad is missing.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the clutch cable needs to be adjusted and the flex disc needs to be replaced. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
The under-hood data plate decodes as follows:
- 904G – Midnight Blue Paint
- 542 – Lockable glove compartment
- 580 – Behr air conditioner
- 593 – Green heat-insulating glass all around, heated rear window
- 621 –Elimination of license plate molding
- 636 – Elimination of warning triangle
- 427 – Power steering and manual trans w/ floor shift
- 467 – Central locking
- 491 – US version
The car is supplied with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a tool kit, an additional set of carpet floor mats, and two keys with their leather pouches.
