This 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo is a Canadian-market example finished in Signal Yellow over black leather and is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional features include glass T-top panels, a rear spoiler, air conditioning, cruise control, and a CD/cassette stereo. The car was first registered in Ontario, and it was acquired by the seller in November 2021. Subsequent service is said to have included the replacement of the timing belt, water pump, ignition components, sway bar bushings and links, and accessory drive belts. This SW20 Turbo is offered with a spare set of wheels and tires, a front-end cover, an owner’s manual, Carfax reports, and Ontario registration in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Signal Yellow (567) and features side scoops, removable glass T-top roof panels, and a rear wing. The seller notes damage in 1993 that resulted in bodywork on the right front bumper. An October 2002 entry in the Carfax report lists an accident resulting in “moderate damage” to the front of the car, and a damage claim was reported at that time. The power antenna is fixed in the extended position and flaws include paint chips on the bumper and hood, a dent above the left door handle, and rust spots on the left-side rocker panel. Padded storage bags for the roof panels are included in the sale.
Factory 14″ five-spoke wheels are mounted with 205/60 Michelin XGT H4 tires. Service under current ownership is said to have included replacing the sway bar bushings and links. In November 2021, the seller purchased a set of 17″ Sport Edition wheels wearing 205/40 Michelin Pilot Sport tires that will accompany the car.
The cabin features manually adjustable black leather (LA22) sport seats along with matching carpets and door panels. Amenities include power windows and locks, air conditioning, cruise control, MR2-branded floor mats, and a factory CD/cassette stereo.
Instrumentation includes a 260-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 64k kilometers (∼40k miles), less than 250 of which are said to have been added by the seller. Entries in the Carfax report from December 2000, May 2010, and November 2015 note mileage inconsistencies, and the true mileage is unknown.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter 3S-GTE inline-four was factory rated at 200 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque. Service under current ownership is said to have included replacing the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap, and rotor as well as flushing the cooling system. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through an E153 five-speed manual transaxle. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
An owner’s manual, a front-end cover, and MR2 floor mats will accompany the car.
Both Carfax reports list the accident in 2002 and history in Ontario, and the US Carfax report lists the aforementioned mileage inconsistencies.
