This 1989 Land Rover 90 is a left-hand-drive example that was imported to the US from Italy by the seller in 2016. Power is provided by a 2.5-liter Falcon turbodiesel inline-four driving all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The truck has been repainted in red with a black roof, and equipment includes black leather upholstery, 16″ three-spoke wheels, LED headlights, a front bumper with an integrated brush guard, an air intake snorkel, rubber floor mats, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. This 90 is now offered with import documents, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name that lists the truck as a 1990 model.
Previously finished in white, the truck was repainted in its current shade of red with a textured black roof. Equipment includes alpine windows, LED headlights, an air intake snorkel, black checker plate trim, window tint, aftermarket badges, and a front bumper with an integrated brush guard. Paint chips are present on various body panels.
Three-spoke 16″ wheels sourced from a Range Rover Classic model wear 235/75 Mudstar Radial M/T tires. A spare tire with a steel wheel is mounted on the rear door. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and the seller states that the brakes and tires were replaced in 2020.
The cabin features three individual front seats reupholstered in black leather with a color-coordinated upper and lower dashboard pad. The floors and cargo area have been refinished in black textured liner, and additional equipment includes metal shift knobs, rubber floor mats, crank windows, and a heater/defroster.
An aftermarket flat-bottom steering wheel fronts a replacement 120-mph speedometer and inoperative gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 430 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.5-liter Falcon turbodiesel inline-four is equipped with a Garrett T2 turbocharger and was factory rated at 85 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. Service in the past year reportedly consisted of replacing the filters and the fluids.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
Decoding the VIN plate reveals the following information:
- SAL – Land Rover UK
- LD – Defender
- V – 90 Standard
- A – Regular body
- B – 2.5-liter Falcon diesel turbo
- 8 – Left-hand drive five-speed manual
- F – 1989 model year
- A – Solihull plant
- 398658 – Production number
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Texas beginning with the first entry in March 2017 through the most recent entry in June 2020.
