This 1986 Ford F-150 XL is a regular-cab short-bed 4×4 pickup finished in two-tone brown and tan over tan cloth upholstery, and it is powered by a 4.9-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a spray-in bed liner, bed rails, Western-style mirrors, dual fuel tanks, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The truck was first delivered in California and is said to have remained registered in the state through its acquisition by the seller in 2020. Work performed under current ownership is said to include replacing the radiator, thermostat, cooling hoses, alternator, battery, power steering pump, shocks, and headlights. This F-150 is offered at no reserve with a handwritten log, manufacturer’s literature, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The truck is finished in two-tone brown and tan and features a chrome front bumper and trim. Additional equipment includes a tinted sliding rear window, a receiver hitch, dual fuel tanks, and Western-style mirrors. Aftermarket bed rails, a spray-in bed liner, and replacement headlights are said to have been installed under current ownership. A ding is present behind the left-side window and additional photos of paint blemishes are provided in the gallery below.
Steel 15″ wheels with chrome hubcaps are mounted with 235/75 Cooper Discoverer A/T3 tires. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs as well as power-assisted steering and brakes. The power steering pump and shock absorbers are said to have been replaced under current ownership.
The cabin features a bench seat upholstered in tan cloth along with color-coordinated door panels, while woodgrain trim accents the dashboard. Amenities include a heater, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and a locking glove box. A crack is present in the dashboard above the glovebox.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer is believed to have rolled over and now shows 31k miles, approximately 5k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The sending unit in the rear fuel tank works intermittently.
The 4.9-liter inline-six sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Work performed under current ownership is said to include replacing the radiator, thermostat, cooling hoses, alternator, battery, and battery cables. The seller states that there is an oil leak from the valve cover gasket.
Corrosion is visible on underbody components. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery below.
Handwritten ownership notes are included in the sale along with manufacturer’s literature.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in California beginning in 2009. The truck was designated a Gross Polluter by the state of California in 2013, and it most recently passed a California emissions test in October 2021. A potential odometer rollover is listed in June 2020.
