This 1958 Triumph TR3A was purchased by the seller’s father in 1959 and was refurbished and modified circa 2000. The car has been refinished in red over tan and is powered by a modified inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes an overdrive unit, fender-mounted mirrors, chrome bumpers and trim, and a chrome luggage rack. Modifications reportedly include installation of rack and pinion steering, front and rear sway bars, 15″ wheels, adjustable seats with headrests, halogen headlights, and daytime running lights. This TR3A is now offered in Canada by the seller on behalf of their father with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a tan tonneau cover, a car cover, and British Columbia registration.
The car was repainted red and features halogen headlights, daytime running lights, fender-mounted mirrors, chrome bumpers and trim, and a luggage rack. The seller reports that the front mirror gaskets have deteriorated. Close-up photos of the body and paint are displayed in the gallery below.
15″ Panasport wheels are mounted with 195/65 Toyo tires. The car has reportedly been fitted with front and rear sway bars as well as rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is from front discs and rear drums.
The cockpit has been reupholstered and features tan vinyl on the adjustable bucket seats, door panels, and dashboard. Equipment includes brown carpets, headrests, chrome detailing, a heater, and storage pockets in the doors. The seller notes wear on the door panels.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer was reset to zero during the refurbishment and shows 14k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The seller states that the inline-four was built to 2.3-liters in 1999. Work reportedly included boring the cylinders to 89mm and installing domed pistons. Features include dual SU carburetors with polished air cleaners and a chrome valve cover.
The seller states that the four-speed manual transmission and electric overdrive unit were sourced from a TR6.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows a build date in November 1958 and lists the factory colors and equipment.
