BaT History (1 entry)

This 1972 Saab 96 is finished in blue over a tan vinyl and cloth interior and is powered by a 1.7-liter V4 mated to a four-speed manual transaxle with a freewheel clutch. Equipment includes 15” wheels, chrome-finished bumpers, Hella driving lamps, Saab-branded rear mud flaps, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The car is said to have remained with its original owner in Huntington, New York, until the mid-1990s, and was acquired by the seller in 2019. Subsequent work included refurbishing the fuel system, replacing the clutch, and rebuilding the transmission and carburetor. This Saab 96 is now offered at no reserve in New York State with an owner’s manual, service records under current ownership, spare parts, and a clean Oklahoma title in the name of the seller’s trust.

The body is said to have been refinished in its current shade of blue approximately 20 years ago under prior ownership. Features include Hella driving lamps, dual side mirrors, Saab-branded rear mud flaps, and chrome-finished bumpers with black bumperettes. The seller notes areas of rust on the passenger door and right rear corner as well as a scratch on the right quarter panel. Close-up photos of paint blemishes are shown in the gallery below.

Gray-finished 15” steel wheels wear Saab-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series Cooper Sport 1000 tires. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes up front and drums out back.

A tear in the passenger-side door panel and a hole on the left side of the dashboard are covered with black tape.
