This 1946 Ford ½-ton pickup is finished in red over tan vinyl upholstery and powered by a 239ci flathead V8 paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a four-barrel carburetor, 16″ painted-steel wheels with covers, chrome bumpers, a side-mounted spare tire, wood-lined bed, dual exhaust with electrically-controlled cutouts, and Sunpro tachometer. The truck was acquired by the current owner on BaT in June 2021, and subsequent work consisted of replacing the front brake calipers and pads. This Ford pickup is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with an operator’s manual, replacement leaf springs, spare parts, refurbishment records and images, and a clean Oregon title.
The body was repainted in red as part of a refurbishment completed in 2006. Features include a 6 ½’ wood-lined bed with stake-sides, side mirrors, chrome bumpers, a fresh-air cowl vent, a driver-side wiper, and running boards with step plates. The wiper motor and turn signals do not work.
Black-painted 16″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps and trim rings along with Bridgestone Ecopia EP02 tires showing 2008 date codes. Stopping is provided by front disc brakes and rear drums, the front calipers and brake pads are said to have been replaced under current ownership. The truck is equipped with a side-mounted spare tire.
The cabin features bench seating reupholstered in tan vinyl with a matching headliner and carpeting along with a body-colored dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes a floor-mounted gear shifter, rearview mirror, dome light, and glovebox.
The two-spoke wrapped steering wheel wears a steering knob and fronts a Sunpro Tachometer along with a Dolphin 140-mph speedometer and combination gauge. The six-digit odometer indicates under 4,200 miles, approximately 200 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 239ci flathead V8 was reportedly rebuilt under previous ownership and is fitted with a four-barrel carburetor, Offenhauser cylinder heads, a performance camshaft, a D.U.I. ignition system, and an aluminum radiator. Red’s headers are reportedly installed and connected to a dual exhaust with electrically-controlled cutouts.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. There are rust holes on the underside of the truck near the rear of the bed, and the seller notes the transmission disengages from second gear when going downhill.
Images showing the truck during various stages of the refurbishment are provided in the gallery along with refurbishment records.
