This 1988 BMW M3 is powered by a 2.3-liter S14 inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and it is finished in Diamond Black Metallic over Cardinal Red leather. Equipment includes 15″ basketweave wheels, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, fog lights, front sport seats, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, and an onboard computer. The car spent its life in Indiana prior to its acquisition by the seller in November 2015, reportedly from the original owner, and it now shows 163k miles. This E30 M3 is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a stamped maintenance booklet, service records, removed parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Diamond Black Metallic (181) and features an electric sunroof with a wind deflector as well as a rear spoiler, fog lights, painted mirror caps, a single exhaust outlet, and wider fenders compared to the standard E30. H4 headlamps with yellow overlays have been fitted, and the removed units are included in the sale. The hood was repainted, and the seller notes that a paint correction was performed and a ceramic coating was recently applied to the bodywork. Two scratches are present in the finish.
The 15″ basketweave wheels feature BMW center caps and are wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires showing date codes from 2008. The MacPherson strut/semi-trailing arm suspension was revised for the M3 with a thicker rear anti-roll bar as well as shorter and stiffer springs.
The manually adjustable front sport seats and the rear bench are upholstered in Cardinal Red leather, and the seller notes that the front seats were filled and redyed. Amenities include an onboard computer, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, replacement floor mats, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. The air-conditioning system has been converted to use R134a refrigerant.
The three-spoke M-Tech I steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 163k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.3-liter S14 inline-four was factory rated at 192 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential that has been fitted with a finned cover. A stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed, and the removed differential cover is included in the sale.
The sale includes manufacturer’s literature, a service manual, a stamped maintenance log, a binder of service invoices, multiple keys, and the removed floor mats.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists registration history in Indiana and Kentucky.
