This 1988 BMW M6 is finished in Royal Blue Metallic over a Lotus White Nappa leather interior and powered by a 3.5-liter S38 inline-six linked with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 16″ BBS wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power-adjustable front sport seats, air conditioning, a sunroof, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The car was acquired by the seller in 2012 and featured on BaT in April 2016. Service in preparation for the sale included replacing the primary and secondary clutch cylinders. This E24 shows 172k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, partial service records, a tool kit, a car cover, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Royal Blue Metallic (198) and was repainted under current ownership. Equipment includes a powered sunroof, a rear spoiler, quad headlights, front fog lights, tinted windows, and dual central exhaust outlets. LED bulbs have been fitted in the taillights and license plate lights.
Silver-finished 16″ BBS basketweave wheels are mounted with 225/55 front and 245/50 rear BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S tires. Braking is from power-assisted four-wheel discs with an anti-lock system, and the car is equipped with independent front and semi-trailing arm rear suspension. A front strut tower brace is fitted under the hood.
The cabin features power-adjustable front sport seats upholstered in Lotus White Nappa leather that extends to the lower dashboard and door panels, along with color-coordinated carpets and a contrasting black dashboard top and upper door trim. Additional equipment includes front and rear air conditioning, an AM/FM cassette stereo, a trip computer, and power windows. The air conditioning system has a leak and does not blow cold, while black tape covers the illuminated brake, rear, and license plate light dashboard warning indicators. Wear is visible on the upholstery, the dashboard is cracked, and additional interior blemishes can be viewed in the gallery.
The airbag steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 6,900-rpm redline, a 170-mph speedometer, and gauges monitoring coolant temperature and fuel level. Additional auxiliary gauges indicating voltage, oil temperature, and oil pressure are mounted atop the dash. The six-digit odometer shows 172k miles, approximately 18k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.5-liter S38 inline-six features individual throttle bodies and was factory rated at 256 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The primary and secondary clutch cylinders were replaced in preparation for the sale.
Rust is visible on exhaust components, and additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
Manufacturer’s literature and partial service records are included in the sale.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and New Jersey.
