This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was sold new at Ed Taylor Chevrolet of Whittier, California, in February 1970, and is said to have undergone refurbishment in the style of a Nickey 427 Camaro prior to its acquisition by the seller in May 2015. The car has been refinished in brown with a black vinyl top over a black vinyl interior and is powered by a replacement 396ci V8 mated to a replacement four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, power front disc brakes, power steering, traction bars, rear air shocks, 15″ Torq Thrust wheels, headers, a cowl-induction hood, and front and rear spoilers. This Camaro is now offered with original sales and warranty documents, a Protect-O-Plate, Nickey literature, and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in Burnished Brown during the refurbishment. Features include a black vinyl roof, front and rear spoilers, a steel cowl-induction hood, a driver-side mirror, chrome bumpers, rear bumper guards, rocker-panel trim, and “Nickey 427” badging.
American Racing Torq Thrust 15″ wheels with gray centers and machined lips are wrapped in Goodyear Polyglass GT tires. Power-assisted braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. Traction bars and air shocks are fitted at the rear.
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with a matching dash pad and door panels as well as carpeting protected by branded floor mats. Features include a heater/defroster, lap and shoulder belts, and bucket seats with head restraints.
The three-spoke woodgrain steering wheel fronts a 140-mph AC-branded speedometer, a matching tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 500 miles, which is said to represent the mileage driven since completion of the build. True mileage is unknown.
The 396ci V8 breathes through a 750cfm Holley four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake manifold, and long-tube headers flowing into a dual exhaust system equipped with offset-inlet mufflers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Hurst-shifted M-20 wide-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end with a Positraction differential. The seller notes corrosion on components of the underbody, photos of which are presented in the gallery.
