This 1991 Rover Mini Cooper is a left-hand drive example that was imported to the US from Italy in 2017 and acquired by the current owner via a December 2021 BaT Auction. The car is finished in black with Union Jack roof graphics over black upholstery and is powered by a 1,275cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes flared wheel arches, 12” Minilite-style wheels, white hood and side stripes, driving lights, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and a Sony head unit with JVC speakers. This Mini Cooper is being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner, a California dealer, and should the winning bidder be a California private party the transaction will be processed through a licensed retail dealership. A clean Carfax report and transferable Vermont registration is included in the sale.
The car was repainted under previous ownership in black with white hood stripes and pinstripes along with replacement black, gray, and white Union Jack graphics on the roof. Additional equipment includes driving lamps, chrome bumpers and side mirrors, screw-on flared wheel arches, and a chrome fuel filler cap. A Judas Priest sticker is applied to the rear bumper.
Silver 12” Minilite-style wheels with Mini Cooper center caps are mounted with 155/70 Falken Sincera tires. The shocks and ball joints were replaced in 2021. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drum brakes.
The interior has been re-trimmed in black upholstery with red piping along with matching door panels. Additional equipment includes red carpeting, wood panel trim, a heater, crank windows, floor mats, a John Cooper-branded gear shifter, and a Sony head unit paired with JVC speakers mounted beneath the rear bench seats.
A leather-wrapped Moto-Lita steering wheel fronts a 180-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge displaying readouts for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 45k kilometers (~28k miles).
The 1,275cc inline-four was rebuilt by Dino Motors of San Mateo, California, in October 2017 with a replacement carburetor, pistons, bearings, water pump, and a high-performance camshaft. Service in 2021 included replacing fuel hoses and the shift shaft seal and boot along with performing a tune-up.
The four-speed manual transaxle was rebuilt in 2021 and sends power to the front wheels.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists registration in Vermont from the first entry in 2017 through the last entry in August 2020.
