This 1964.5 Ford Mustang coupe is said to have been refurbished in 2015 and was recently acquired by the selling dealer. It is finished in orange over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a replacement 170ci inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 14″ wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, bucket seats, air conditioning, a floor-mounted shifter, a push-button radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This Mustang coupe is offered by the selling dealer with manufacturer’s literature, spare and removed parts, and New York registration.
Finished from the factory in Poppy Red, the car was repainted orange during previous ownership, at which time the passenger-side door skin was reportedly replaced. Exterior details include chrome-finished bumpers and a driver-side mirror. The windshield is scratched, paint chips are noted on the fenders, and corrosion is present in the front lower corners of the doors.
Steel 14″ wheels wear polished covers and 185/75 Goodyear Custom Polysteel Radial whitewall tires. Equipment includes power-assisted brakes with front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes an aftermarket air conditioning system, a push-button AM radio, a center console, and a floor-mounted shifter. Recent work is said to have included replacing the door handles, horn button, horn relay, and dual horns.
The replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, though total mileage is unknown. The selling dealer states that the speedometer does not read past 35 mph, and the removed steering wheel is included in the sale.
The replacement 170ci inline-six was installed during previous ownership and is equipped with a chrome-finished valve cover. An exhaust leak at the manifold is noted by the selling dealer, and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission.
An owner’s manual is included in the sale, along with spare and removed parts that are pictured in the gallery.
The vehicle warranty number reveals that the car is a 1965 Mustang coupe built at the Dearborn, Michigan, plant and originally powered by a 170ci inline-six with a single-barrel carburetor. The data plate shown above decodes as follows:
- Body 65A — Mustang coupe with standard interior
- Color 3 — Poppy Red
- Trim 86 — Black vinyl w/black trim
- Date 30F — June 30, 1964 build date
- DSO 13 — New York City, New York sales district
- Axle 3 — 3.20:1 standard differential
- Trans 1 — Three-speed manual transmission
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
