This 2001 BMW 540i Sport sedan is finished in Anthracite Metallic over gray Montana leather and powered by a 4.4-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Modifications include H&R coilover suspension and Brembo brakes as well as a Dinan intake, exhaust, shock tower braces, anti-sway bars, and badging. Factory equipment includes fog lights, a glass sunroof, power-adjustable and heated front sport seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The car was first registered in New Jersey and spent time in Washington State and Arizona before being acquired by the selling dealer in 2022. This E39 540i has 100k miles and is offered at no reserve in California with a Carfax report and a clean Arizona title.
The car is finished in Anthracite Metallic (397) with Shadowline window trim and tinted windows. AC Schnitzer-branded trunk and roof spoilers have been added along with aftermarket head light covers, taillights, and mirrors. The front bumper cover was repainted and the kidney grilles were replaced in preparation for the sale. The Carfax report indicates “very minor damage” to the right side of the vehicle in September 2015. The seller notes a number of dents around the body, and other exterior flaws are shown up close in the image gallery below.
Aftermarket 18″ wheels wear 235/40 front and 265/35 rear Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position tires. Braking is provided by slotted brake rotors fitted with Brembo brake calipers and stainless steel brake lines at all four corners. The car rides on H&R coilover suspension and features Dinan front and rear anti-sway bars and shock tower braces as well as aftermarket lower control arm bushings.
The cabin features seating trimmed in gray leather with matching door panel inserts, and wood trim accents the two-tone dashboard and doors. Amenities include power-adjustable and heated front sport seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an onboard computer, black rubber floor mats, aftermarket cupholders, and a touchscreen Kenwood infotainment system linked to a trunk-mounted Diamond amplifier. The driver-side window regulator and sunroof motor were replaced in 2020, and a set of Dinan-branded carpeted floor mats are included in the sale. The rear headrests are missing, wear is visible on the front seat upholstery, and damage to the front seat trim and seatbacks is documented in the gallery.
The leather-wrapped multifunction M steering wheel fronts a 155-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 100k miles.
The 4.4-liter M62 V8 features VANOS variable valve timing and has been modified with a Dinan cold-air intake and throttle body, underdrive pulleys, stainless-steel oil lines, and an aluminum radiator and coolant expansion tank. A Dinan serial number badge is affixed to the radiator core support. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a rear differential with 2.81:1 gears. The exhaust system features a Dinan muffler.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned damage in September 2015 and lists history in New Jersey, Washington, and Arizona.
